s. Sreesanth can play in Kerala’s Ranji team after his ban ends. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has decided to consider his name for selection in the Ranji team after his ban expires in September. However, before this, 37-year-old Sreesanth will have to prove his fitness. Newly appointed coach of Kerala Ranji team, Tinu Yohanan said, “KCA has decided that once the ban on them in September is over, their name will be considered for selection in the team.”

Tinu Yohanan said, ‘However his selection in the team will depend on his fitness level. They have to prove their fitness. Nothing is happening outside of cricket at this time, otherwise we would have seen them playing on the field and giving them fitness tests. It is difficult to say anything at this time.

Yohanan, who has played three Tests and as many ODIs for India, further said that Sreesanth will be given all possible support to return to the cricket field. He said, ‘We all want to see him playing again. He will play again after 7 years. So we have to wait and see what happens.

Sreesanth has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20 matches for India so far, in which he has taken 87, 75 and 7 wickets respectively. In 2013, Sreesanth was banned for life by the BCCI in the IPL spot-fixing case. However, in 2015, a special court in Delhi acquitted him of all the charges against him.

In 2018, the Kerala High Court struck down the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI and canceled all proceedings against him. However, a bench of the High Court upheld the ban.

Sreesanth challenged this decision in the Supreme Court. His crime was upheld by the Supreme Court in March last year, but the BCCI was asked to reduce his sentence and the Indian Board reduced his life ban sentence to seven years, which will expire in August this year.
