Nine members of Maharashtra Legislative Council including Uddhav Thackeray elected unopposed
Mumbai. The Election Commission had announced to hold elections on 9 vacant seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council on May 21, but elections will no longer be required after members are elected unopposed on all 9 seats of the Legislative Council.
It is being told that the deadline to withdraw his name from the election was till 14 May. After which an additional 3 candidates have withdrawn their names. After which now only 9 candidates were left in the field. For this reason, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been elected unanimously as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

For a seat in the Legislative Council, about 32 votes were required on the basis of first preference. In this context, it was believed that Maha Vikas Aghadi was making equations for six seats. The BJP was also eyeing four seats. But now Aghadi has got 5 seats and BJP has 4 seats.
