Harbhajan Singh to be AAP’s Punjab candidate for Rajya Sabha polls this year
The AAP has announced former India spinner Harbhajan Singh’s name as its Rajya Sabha election candidate from Punjab.
Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh will be the Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections this year, the party has announced. The Aam Aadmi Party is going to get five seats in the Rajya Sabha, by the end of this month.
According to the sources, the newly-formed state government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, may also give command of a sports university to Harbhajan Singh.
Right before the Punjab election held in February, speculations of ‘Turbanator’ Harbhajan Singh joining the BJP were rife. Several media outlets reported on the possibility and claimed that a senior BJP leader had said, “We have them [Harbhajan and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh] on the radar. Let us see.” ‘Bhajji‘ later dismissed the rumours.
The rumours, however, did not stop there as only days later, the veteran cricketer was seen posing with the then Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, who posted the picture on his Twitter handle and captioned it: “Picture loaded with possibilities . With Bhajji the shining star”.
Now, with AAP’s announcement, all rumours seem to have been put to rest.
