There are several Hispanics among the victims of the San Jose shooting; video of the shooter appears before the attack

The suspect in killing eight people in San José had an income of more than $ 160,000 in 2019, but according to people close to him he hated his job

Authorities identified the eight victims of the San Jose morning shooting at a rail transportation facility in Silicon Valley, California, late Wednesday .

The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said the people killed in the bombing were  Adrián Balleza, 29; José Dejesus Hernández III, 35; Taptejdeep Singh, 36; Michael Joseph Rudometkin, 40; Paul Delacruz Megia, 42; Timothy Michael Romo, 49; Adbolvahab Alaghmandan, 63, and Lars Kepler Lane, 63.

The shooter, who also died, was identified hours earlier as Samuel Cassidy , a 57-year-old white man, who according to the mayor of San José knew all of his victims.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department said preliminary investigation indicates the suspect shot himself.

According to local media reports, Cassidy had temper issues and used to complain a lot about her job, the Silicon Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), even though her income as a maintenance employee exceeded $ 160,000 in 2019 , last year of information available, according to a report from the local ABC channel .

The San Jose daily The Mercury News said the shooter’s ex-wife, identified as Cecilia Nelms, revealed that Cassidy “frequently spoke up angrily about her co-workers and bosses,” and sometimes directed her anger at her. The couple divorced in 2005.

“He just thought that some people had easier things at work, and that he received the hardest jobs, ” the woman said according to the newspaper .

The place of the shooting is a complex of tracks where light trains are organized to carry out their routes or where they are parked. The tragic attack was reported at 6:34 am.

A security video obtained by local media allegedly shows Cassidy leaving her home before leaving for work and perpetrating the shooting. He is seen putting a large bag in his truck where he possibly carried the weapon. So far no details have been released.

Soon after, the house caught fire. A neighbor recorded the fire, allegedly planned by Cassidy. The authorities were investigating him.

President Joe Biden lamented the umpteenth mass shooting in the United States. “We are waiting for many of the details of this new mass shooting in San José, but there are some things that we already know. There are at least eight families that will never be whole again. Every life snatched by a bullet pierces the soul of our nation, ”he wrote on his social networks.
