Miranda Cosgrove has led the iCarly cast in condemning racism due to new castmember Laci Mosley being on the receiving harassment on social media since joining the show.

Paramount put out a statement on Sunday backing up the cast and crew of the revived series after Mosley took to social media to post about the racism she has encountered in recent weeks.

The Black actress plays Miranda’s new BFF Harper on the show as many believed she was a replacement to Carly’s old friend from the original version of the program, named Sam Puckett, who was played by Jennette McCurdy.

As a result Mosley was at the receiving end of disgraceful racist messages including several calling her the N-word and other racial epithets.

Over the weekend she shared a video addressing the messages as she said: ‘Hey I’m playing Harper on iCarly, I’m not replacing Sam. Jennette McCurdy is a wonderful person, I’ve never met her but it’s no shade.

‘Get the f*** out of my comments with this f***ing racist a** bulls**. You will be blocked and you will never see me again honey.’

‘My experience with acting is, I’m so ashamed of the parts I’ve done in the past,’ the 28-year-old former child star confessed on a March episode of her podcast Empty Inside with guest Anna Faris.

‘I resent my career in a lot of ways. I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing. I did the shows that I was on from like 13 to 21, and by 15, I was already embarrassed.

‘My friends at 15, they’re not like, “Oh, cool, you’re on this Nickelodeon show.” It was embarrassing. And I imagine there’s a very different experience to be had with acting if you’re proud of your roles, and if you feel fulfilled by them.’
