If Kashmir is a paradise now, what’s wrong with Bengal becoming Kashmir: Omar Abdullah’s dig at Suvendu
‘If they (Trinamool Congress) come back to power, West Bengal will become Kashmir,’ BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said.
Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday slammed BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari over his remarks that West Bengal would become Kashmir if TMC returned to power, calling it “stupid” and “tasteless”.
Abdullah said there was nothing wrong in Bengal becoming Kashmir since the Valley has become “paradise” according to BJP after the scrapping of J&K’s special status under Article 370
“But according to you BJP wallas Kashmir has become paradise after August 2019 so what’s wrong with West Bengal becoming Kashmir? Anyway, Bengalis love Kashmir & visit us in large numbers so we forgive you your stupid, tasteless comment,” Abdullah tweeted.
Addressing a public gathering at Muchipara in Behala on Saturday, Adhikari said, “If they (Trinamool Congress) come back to power, West Bengal will become Kashmir.”
The remarks came on a day BJP pitted the former TMC leader against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram — making it the most prestigious contest in the Assembly elections starting March 27. Adhikari had won from the Nandigram seat last time.
Soon after he was given the BJP ticket, Adhikari announced, “I am Nandigram’s Bhumi Putra. She (Mamata) is an outsider here. I will defeat her and send her back to Kolkata.”
