Singer Vicente Fernandez apologises for viral clip of him 'touching fan's bust'
Mexican singer Vicente Fernández has apologised after footage of him appearing to touch a fan’s chest area went viral.
The 80-year-old Grammy Award winner appeared in an interview with Mara Patricia Castañeda, in which he maintained that the moment had been an “accident”.
Vicente’s response came after a post surfaced on TikTok that featured the singer at his Los Tres Potrillos Ranch in which he appears to place his hand on the breast of a fan who had asked for a photograph.
The images were reportedly taken alongside the unnamed fan over three years ago.
Since the images resurfaced, several fans have criticised the singer for his behaviour.
Speaking in his recent interview with Mara Patricia Castañeda – who is also his former daughter-in-law – Vicente explained that his actions had been unintentional.
In the Spanish-speaking interview, Mara brings up the allegations: “A photograph was uploaded where … it seems you touch the bust of a girl … who visited in 2017.”
Vicente, also known as the ‘King of Ranchera music’ then said that he had seen the photograph but did not deliberately grope the unnamed fan.
“I saw the photo and indeed, yes, I put my hand first on her stomach and said: ‘You are going to feel offended’ and I raised my hand, and when I raised it, they took the photo,” he said during the interview.
While he maintained that his actions were unintentional, he went on to offer an apology.
“I offer you an apology with all my heart, but I did not do it with intention.
“If I had done it with intention, I wouldn’t have done it there. I would have taken it to the stables, but I do not even remember how it happened,” the translation states.
A representative for Vicente Fernández has been approached by The Mirror for further comment.
