COVID-19: Quebec has 1,685 new cases and 76 new deaths

Quebec, with a population of 8.5 million people, reported 1,685 contaminations and 76 fatalities on Saturday, reaching a total of 252,176 cases and 9,437 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Yesterday, the province recorded 1,631 infections and 88 deaths.

Hospitalizations fell by 43 on Saturday to a total of 1,383, but four more people are in intensive care, or 216 people.

“In recent days, [hospitalisations] are in [baisse], but they still remain high and hospitals continue to load shedding. Let us continue our efforts to make [reculer] the cases, which will make it possible to [diminuer] the [hospitalisations]“, Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, posted on Twitter.

Ontario overtakes Quebec in the number of accumulated cases

After 11 months of health crisis, the most populous province in Canada, Ontario, has finally overtaken Quebec in the number of cumulative cases of COVID-19.

Ontario, with a population of 14.6 million, recorded 2,359 new infections and 52 deaths on Saturday, bringing its figures so far to 252,585 sick and 5,753 dead.

New Brunswick announced 17 more cases, for a total of 1,104.

As of afternoon, Canada had 741,468 cases and 18,956 dead since the start of the pandemic.
