A major water main break forced the closure of avenue De Lorimier northbound on Friday morning at the intersection of rue Ontario, greatly complicating traffic in the area.
Since 4 a.m., users taking the Jacques-Cartier Bridge in the direction of Montreal have been diverted by the Sûreté du Québec police officers to De Lorimier Avenue heading south.
A large amount of water collected on the roadway at the intersection of De Lorimier Avenue and Ontario Street East.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is asking the public to avoid the area of rue Ontario, between rue Parthenais and rue Dorion.
The leak, which requires the intervention of the City of Montreal’s public works teams, has not yet been sealed.
