Bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal dies at 80

Bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal passed away on Friday in New Delhi’s Apollo Hospital.
He was 80 and was ailing for the past three months.
Besides bhajans Chanchal also sang songs in Hindi films. His song ‘Beshak mandir masjid’ for the 1973 film ‘Bobby’ won him the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award.
Besides ‘Bobby’ he sang in many other Hindi movies, like ‘Aasha’, ‘Avtaar’ and ‘Roti Kapada aur Makaan’.
He was born in Amritsar and started singing bhajans at an early age.
Several celebrities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cricketer Harbhajan Singh and Punjabi singer Daler Mehendi, mourned his death by posting tweets on the microblogging site.
