Winter storm: 15 to 30 cm of snow for the weekend in Quebec

A snowstorm is expected for the weekend in Quebec and could leave accumulations of 15 to 30 centimeters, depending on the region.

Environment Canada issued a special weather report for several regions of the province. “The rapid accumulation of snow can make it difficult to travel,” the federal agency said Thursday.

In Greater Montreal, a snowfall could leave 15 centimeters in places, but the snow could be interrupted by an episode of rain at the end of the day on Saturday.

Besides the island of Montreal, the sectors of Châteauguay, La Prairie, Laval, Longueuil and Varennes are affected by this winter storm.

Temperatures will be relatively mild during the storm, although the wind effect could lower the mercury to -10 degrees.

The same weather conditions will prevail in Beauce, Mauricie and Estrie, where several sectors will experience intermittent light snow on Friday before receiving a white carpet on Sunday.

In Quebec City, significant amounts of snow are forecast, since the edge would leave between 15 and 30 centimeters of snow on the ground.

The storm will also affect Gatineau, Abitibi, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Saguenay, Gaspésie and Sept-Îles, where the broadside will leave up to 30 centimeters of snow.
