Blow for Latin tennis: Mexican, Paraguayan and Chilean are out of the Australian Open | The State

The preview of Australian Open takes place in Dubai and in the second round the Mexican Renata zarazua, the Paraguayan Veronica Cepede and the Chilean Daniela seguel were eliminated, so they will miss the first Grand Slam of the 2021 season.
Renata Zarazúa lost to Slovak Rebecca Sramkova 6-4, 4-6 and 6-3 in two hours and 28 minutes; Cepede against the Belgian Greetje Minnen 7-5 and 6-3; and Seguel against the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic in another long meeting of more than two hours, 6-2, 2-6 and 6-2.

Due to health controls due to the coronavirus pandemic, the qualifying phase for the Australian Open is being played in Dubai for women and in Doha for men.
Zarazúa made history in September 2020 by achieving a victory at Roland Garros, the first victory for a Mexican tennis player in 20 years in a Grand Slam.
