COVID-19 outbreak in a therapy home in the Laurentians

The Sentier du nouveau jour therapy house in Lantier, in the Laurentians, has been in bloom since December 30, TVA Nouvelles has learned.

No less than 15 users are positive for COVID-19 out of around 40 residents.

However, the therapy house is not closed, specifies the CISSS des Laurentides.

Reached by TVA News on Saturday, the resort’s chairman, Renato Badalone, said residents are confined to their rooms, having their meals delivered three times a day. Beneficiary attendants are also on site to help them. If they have to smoke outside, it is done in small groups with supervision.

Mr. Badalone says, fortunately, no serious symptoms were detected among residents of the center who tested positive.

As for the employees who had been infected, they are starting to return to work.

“Clinical activities are reduced and new admissions are suspended. A red zone has also been delimited inside the resource, ”specifies Julie Lemieux-Côté of the CISSS des Laurentides, who is closely monitoring this outbreak and providing all the necessary support for the resource.

“You should also know that all the measures recommended by the Institut de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) are applied by our establishment as soon as a case is suspected or declared. The CISSS des Laurentides systematically accompanies staff in RHD living environments during an outbreak situation in order to limit the transmission of the virus as quickly as possible “, it was added.
