Johnny Depp's huge Hollywood Hills mansion targeted by burglar while he was out
Johnny Depp’s Los Angeles mansion was targeted by a would-be burglar while he was not present at the weekend.
TMZ reports police were summoned to the extensive castle-like Hollywood Hills home after an attempted entry triggered an alarm.
According to the publication a woman fled following the alarm sounding, but was found by police nearby and arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Officers are still investigating, but have linked the attempt to a recent burglary nearby.
Pirates Of The Caribbean star Depp purchased the 1920s-era eight-bedroom property, which stands in a four-acre eucalyptus grove, back in 1995.
The attempt comes after Depp opened up to fans about his “hard year” on social media over the festive season.
The Hollywood actor – who lost his libel case The Sun this year – shared the message alongside a photograph from the film set of Crock Of Gold about The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan, which he is a producer on.
The Edward Scissorhands star, 57, said: “This year has been so hard for so many.
“Here’s to a better time ahead. Happy Holidays, everyone! My love and respect to you all. Eternally, JD.”
Depp has asked the Court Of Appeal to order a retrial of his libel claim against The Sun over an article calling him a “wife beater”, claiming he was not given a fair trial.
Following a high-profile trial in July, his claim was dismissed at the High Court after the judge found he assaulted his ex-wife Amber Heard on a dozen occasions and put her in “fear for her life” three times.
Days after the ruling Depp announced he had been asked by Warner Brothers to resign from his role in the Harry Potter spin-off franchise Fantastic Beasts.
