Mesut Ozil has posted a picture of himself in Istanbul as speculation linking him with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce grows.
The Arsenal playmaker has not played for the club since March after being frozen out by manager Mikel Arteta.
With his contract due to expire at the end of the season the Gunners are believed to be desperate to move the 32-year-old on this month.
And Ozil has dropped a huge hint of his potential destination after sharing a photo of him looking at the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul along with the caption: “This city… #Istanbul #throwback.”
It is not clear exactly when the picture was taken, but the timing of Ozil’s tweet is surely not a coincidence.
It comes as Turkish journalist Berkay Tokgoz sent a social media message suggesting a deal for Fenerbahce to sign Ozil could well be announced sooner rather than later.
He tweeted: “The bomb of the year explodes. Mesut Ozil will join Fenerbahce. He will wear the No.23 jersey.”
It is believed the German has not been training with the Arsenal first-team recently, having been granted a leave of absence by the club.
And it is looking increasingly likely he will never be seen in Arsenal colours again.
If he does go this month it would be a hugely underwhelming end to what has been an up-and-down spell in North London.
Ozil first joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 and was a hugely important part of the first-team for a number of years.
He helped the side win three FA Cups, but was often criticised for his inconsistent performances.
With the likes of Emile Smith Rowe shining in his preferred No.10 position, it looks as though Arsenal have moved on from Ozil, and it will be intriguing to see how he performs at his new club.
