‘Cobra Kai’s Mary Mouser & Peyton List: Why They Think Sam & Tory’s ‘Rivalry’ Will Never Be ‘Over’
The fight between Samantha and Tory is still on after ‘Cobra Kai’ season 3. HL spoke EXCLUSIVELY with Mary Mouser and Peyton List about why their characters won’t be friends any time soon.
If you thought there was a chance Samantha and Tory could bury the hatchet by the end of Cobra Kai season 3, think again. The tension between these two characters is still at an all-time high. After their nasty school fight at the end of season 2 where Tory slashed Sam’s arm with her spiked wrist collar, the ladies faced off again in the Cobra Kai season 3 finale. Just like Tory told Sam after their fight was broken up, Peyton List doesn’t think this fight is finished whatsoever.
“I don’t know if it’ll ever be over,” Peyton told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY during the Netflix show’s virtual press junket. “I think someone asked us the other day. They go, is this going to be a 30-year feud? Just like Johnny and Daniel? And I’m like, I think maybe. I think there will always be more with these two. I mean, who knows, these writers always surprise me. That’s what I love so much about this show is that when I read the script I’m genuinely eating it up. I’m so curious what’s going to happen because I think there’s such hardcore Karate Kid fans. They have so much love for it that it’s always shocking.”
Johnny and Daniel have now put aside their rivalry to take down Kreese. This may signal hope for Samantha and Tory, but Mary Mouser is all about the feud. “I like the rivalry,” she said. “I think it’s fun. I think it’s fun to have that kind of, not even just anger or like grudges, but just that passionate blind focus of like, this person is the reason that my life is whatever it is right now. And I have to fix it. I have to take it out on them. Whatever it is, I think it’s super fun.”
However, Mary admitted that if Samantha and Tory ever teamed up it would be “catastrophic for everybody else. It is a lot of power there, but I think it’s it’s fun to watch them butt heads instead.”
Peyton revealed that it would take a lot for Sam and Tory to ever forgive each other and move on. “They have the same boy in common, the whole school fight, Tory feeling like she was cheated on, all of these things,” Peyton said. “I feel like it’s just really hard. You have to be a really big person to forgive all of that past and to see Tory be able to forgive and do that would be pretty big. So I just think about all the things that have happened, and it’s really hard.” Cobra Kai season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
