Although the new law allowing $ 600 of direct aid to Americans increased eligibility for some groups, there are millions of people who will not receive support from the COVID-19 for different reasons.

It should be remembered that the people eligible to receive the full amount are those who earn a maximum of $ 75,000 annually or $ 150,000 per couple, if they submitted their tax reports to the IRS together.

Parents with a social security number can apply for the $ 600 child grant.

Now, who will not receive the help?

1. Undocumented and their children

The $ 900 billion law allows undocumented U.S. couples apply for help, as well as sponsor your children.

However, the plan excludes undocumented persons married to other undocumented persons or single persons who pay their taxes with ITIN. The aid cannot be requested for your children either, as a valid Social Security number is required.

2. Dependent children who are 17 years old

The “eligible children” for the stimulus package must be under 17 years of age.

Although the IRS will use people’s 2019 tax returns to determine their stimulus payments, so those teens who turned 17 in the second half of 2020, after the tax report was filed, may qualify for the benefit.

3. University dependent

College students who are reported by their parents as dependents will also not be able to receive the benefit, according to the Tax Foundation.

This has already generated problems, since these young people had part-time jobs that they have lost due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Those college students who file taxes would qualify for the support.

4. Elderly and disabled adults

Elderly and disabled adults who are considered dependents are also excluded.

Those people may have obtained a social security number at some point and are now dependents so they could qualify, but without that reference and given the age restriction, the IRS will not send extra funds to their families.

5. People who earn more than $ 87,000

After passing the threshold of $ 75,000 per year in income per person, the amount of the $ 600 check varies, from 100 percent to 0 percent.

With the CARES Act Millions of people who earn up to $ 99,000 a year were able to receive some help, but this time those who earn $ 87,000 a year will not receive support.

In the case of couples, those who earn more than $ 174,000 annually will also not receive help. The maximum to win is $ 150,000.
