A diplomat at the United Nations (UN) was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on New Year’s Eve, in an apparent suicide.
The unidentified 38-year-old woman was found face down with a belt around her neck in the bedroom of her 333 East 45th Street apartment shortly after noon on Thursday the 31st, sources said.
The cops also found antidepressant medications prescriptions and two bottles of melatonin, one empty and the other with little content. No signs of criminality were reported.
“He lived here for two years,” said Hernán Ávila, of the building’s maintenance staff, located very close to the UN headquarters. The diplomat lived alone in an apartment on the fourth floor, she added to the New York Post. The nationality of the woman and her role at the UN have been disclosed.
