Stacey Solomon never expected that she would become engaged on Christmas Eve – and she has admitted that her wardrobe reflected this.
The Loose Women star’s dreams came true when her long-term boyfriend Joe Swash finally popped the question during a romantic stroll in the forest near the lovebirds’ beautiful home.
The 31-year-old reality TV star took to her Instagram account to announce the happy news on the night before Christmas.
She shared a picture of her diamond engagement ring as she lay with her head back on a floral arrangement with a huge smile on her face.
Stacey wrote: “To the moon and back bub. I have no words.”
It’s clear that the proud mum-of-three was overwhelmed with surprise because she didn’t even have a chance to dress up for the occasion.
The bubbly babe – who is often laid back and carefree – revealed she was wearing a rather unusual outfit while Joe, 38, got down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.
Stacey told her curious Instagram followers: “Happy Christmas Eve. For anyone wondering I was wearing a Norm jumper, reindeer ears, and my slippers.
“I just thought we were going for a walk in the park.”
On her stories she told that Joe had proposed when they went on a walk through the woods with their 19-month-old son Rex, and Stacey’s other boys Zach, 12, and Leighton, 8.
Stacey explained that she has walked in the woods ever since she and Joe moved in together two years ago, and said just how much the thoughtful proposal meant to her.
“It’s my happy place. I lose myself and breathe in every second of it because to me it’s just what life is about,” she gushed.
She went on: “And Joe with our boys, in my favourite place in the world. He asked me to marry him and after crying for what felt like a very long time.
“I said yes.”
Stacey and Joe were first brought together on the set of I’m A Celebrity Ger Me Out… of Here! back in 2010.
Joe said he fancied her straight away but she was with someone else at the time.
Five years later they finally got together after her breakup with Steve-O.
