Two men shot to death in Harlem: shootings at liquor store and avenue | The State

NYPD investigates both cases

A 24-year-old man died after being shot in the head inside a liquor store in Harlem last night, hours after another man was also fatally shot on 7th Avenue in that Manhattan (NYC) neighborhood.
The latest victim was with a group at “R&C Wine & Liquor” on East 111th St near Madison Avenue around 9:40 p.m., when it blew up. an argument that escalated into violence.
“It happened so fast, in a minute,” said Yi Shy, 30, who was working at the store when the shots rang out. The clerk was helping a customer when a group of six to seven people walked in and “They started fighting, pushing each other”, declared to New York Post.
A few hours earlier, a 44-year-old man was also shot in the head and died, around 5:45 p.m., on 7th Avenue between West 132nd and 133rd streets in Harlem.
None of the victims have been identified and no arrests have been announced. According ABC News, the 44-year-old deceased had a history of multiple arrests and belonged to a gang.
Although authorities allege that overall crime has dropped in NYC, they admit that 2020 has shown an increase of almost double (95%) in shootings compared to last year, when gun violence was already on the rise.
