LadBaby, the sausage roll-loving YouTuber who has dominated the Christmas charts for three years, says 2020 will be the last time he releases a festive single – unless Mariah Carey fancies doing a duet.
The star, real name Mark Ian Hoyle, is on course to be No1 again this Christmas with Don’t Stop Me Eatin’, his meaty version of Don’t Stop Believin’ by soft rockers Journey.
But he will need to beat rival songs, including Mariah’s romantic hit All I Want For Christmas Is You and sweary punk anthem Boris Johnson is a F*****g C**t, by The K**ts.
Mark topped the festive charts in 2018 with We Built This City On Sausage Rolls, his nod to rock band Starship.
And in 2019 he grabbed the festive top spot with I Love Sausage Rolls, sung to the tune of I Love Rock ’n’ Roll, by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
All his songs, performed with his wife Roxanne, raise money for foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.
But Mark fears a backlash if he scores a hat-trick of hits and plans to bow out before the public gets bored.
He said: “I think this is the last one.
“We haven’t got any more planned. We don’t want to get to a point where people boycott it.
“The X Factor dominated No1s at Christmas for so many years and, by the end of it, people were boycotting them.”
But Mark says he could pop up again in with a summer song– or be lured back by the Queen of Christmas.
He said: “If Mariah Carey phones me up next year, how can I say no?
“Maybe there’s a collab we could do: All I Want For Christmas Is Sausage Rolls. Reckon she’d be up for that?”
Hmm. We’ll have to wait and see.
