PSG vs Istanbul Basaksehir game halted after fourth official accused of racism

Play has been suspended in PSG’s Champions League clash against Istanbul Basaksehir after an alleged racist remark.

A fiery debate was held on the touchline around 15 minutes into the game when tensions spilled over on the touchline at the Parc des Princes.

The Istanbul Basaksehir players left the pitch after around 22 minutes as refereeing officials, club officials, coaching staff and players discussed what they believed had happened.

Basaksehir assistant manager Pierre Webo was sent off after 14 minutes after words were exchanged with fourth official Sebastian Coltescu from Romania.

The live broadcast appeared to show Webo angrily asking why Coltescu used a racial slur.

Tensions spilled over on the touchline during PSG v Istanbul Basaksehir

Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba led his team-mates down the touchline after several minutes of discussion.

Istanbul tweeted “NO TO RACISM” just minutes after the encounter.

The likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe watched on as the scenes unfolded during the crunch Group I decider.

Meanwhile in the same group, Manchester United and RB Leipzig were playing for a place in the knockout rounds.
