Mesut Ozil has labelled Paul Pogba a “world champion” after he was compared to the Manchester United midfielder by Piers Morgan.
Ozil is Arsenal’s best paid-player but has been frozen out in north London, with boss Mikel Arteta unhappy with the German’s performance levels.
Pogba is one of United’s best-paid players, but has been inconsistent throughout his Old Trafford career and now apparently wants out.
His agent Mino Raiola confirmed the Frenchman is looking to leave in January, saying he is unhappy and that Juventus would be a good fit for him.
Taking to Twitter to send a message to Ozil, Morgan, a life-long Gunners fan, compared the German to Pogba.

“Real Arsenal fans aren’t behind you,” wrote Morgan.
“You’re our Paul Pogba – massively overpaid, massively under-performing, and shockingly overinflated sense of your own importance.”
Ozil hit back, leaping to his and Pogba’s defence.
“Piers, buddy, are you still bitter from the other day?” wrote Ozil. “It seems like you’re not a big fan of World Champions [Germany flag emoji, France flag emoji].”
Pogba was named on the bench on Tuesday night after his agent’s bombshell claim that he wants to leave Manchester United next month.
But the Frenchman came on in the second half of the Red Devils’ 3-2 defeat by RB Leipzig in the Champions League, and was involved in United’s second as they crashed out of the competition.
