Bundesliga side Augsburg trolled Granit Xhaka on social media to compound a miserable day for the Arsenal star.
The Switzerland international was one of several poor performers in the north London derby on Sunday.
The Gunners were easily swatted aside by Tottenham, who won 2-0 in front of their fans for the first time this season.
Jose Mourinho delivered a typical tactical masterclass over their capital rivals.
It has seen Spurs go top of the Premier League and sparked talk of genuine contender status for the title.
Heung-min Son and Harry Kane combined in the first-half to both score, with the South Korean’s opener a real stunner.
But as good as Tottenham were, Arsenal looked clueless in attack and had a lack of belief throughout the team.
The Gunners may have dominated possession but Hugo Lloris was rarely tested in goal.
Xhaka was one of those to deliver a lacklustre performance and it led to one Twitter user to say: “Augsburg is Xhaka’s level.”
The Bundesliga outfit replied, saying: “Respect us.”
The tweet quickly went viral but they were not the only ones to get on the Swiss star’s back.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp was also infuriated by the 28-year-old, saying: “I struggle to see what Xhaka does.
“We’re talking about an Arsenal midfielder. You want somebody with a bit of quality and a bit of guile.
“You look at [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg for Tottenham today and there’s no comparison.”
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has insisted his side were the only ones trying to play football.
He told Sky Sports: “This is football. They had one shot on target, scored a wonder-goal, and the second one we got done on the break because Thomas gets injured.
“I saw my team full of desire, passion, dominating the game, creating all the chances, but it’s about the end product.
“We have to carry on, keep fighting, but improving those details.”
