A 31-year-old man who was the victim of a hit-and-run was found lying in the middle of the street around 5 a.m. Saturday morning in the borough of LaSalle, Montreal.
The victim, who was suffering from a severe head injury, was on 9th Avenue when she was discovered by police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), said his spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
“The victim was conscious during his transport to a hospital,” said the spokesperson for the SPVM. She was still in critical condition by late morning.
The area was closed to traffic between rue Centrale and boulevard LaSalle so that investigators could determine the circumstances of the event.
Several options were on the table initially, including an assault or a fall, but the investigation revealed that the man was the victim of a hit-and-run.
“Following information obtained and checks, it was determined that this is a hit and run. The victim was hit by a vehicle which left the scene, ”said Brabant.
An SPVM collision investigator was dispatched to the scene and the police are trying to locate the driver and the vehicle.
