If the rise in cases continues, no Christmas gatherings

If the rise in cases of COVID-19 infection continues, Quebeckers will have to give up the two Christmas gatherings allowed, warns epidemiologist Nimâ Machouf.

“With an increase in cases at this rate, we will not have gatherings at Christmas, but let’s be optimistic,” she said.

“We will not be able to afford a huge wave [de cas] in January, ”adds the scientist.

On Saturday, Quebec recorded a new high of cases with 1,480 new infections with the new coronavirus. Two days earlier, Thursday, the province had 1,464 additional cases.

According to Nimâ Machouf, Quebeckers will have to find other ways to celebrate Christmas.

“Maybe we have to change the way of doing things, maybe we have to celebrate Christmas outside,” she suggests. Let’s go to the streets ”.
