At the heart of the mining history of the Appalachians

For many years, aerial photography was about sitting in an aircraft, with anti-nausea medication and a long checklist to make sure you didn’t forget anything. Today, with the arrival of drones, new possibilities open to us. I agree, it’s much more exciting to be in a helicopter and “live” the photo. On the other hand, the drone allows, depending on the limits of its use, unparalleled spontaneity. In some cases, it’s best to trust your instincts and imagine what lies just a little further down. During a morning walk in the Thetford Mines region, I ride on a road located at the bottom of a relief without any interesting perspective, except for the rising sun. A beautiful light unfolds gently on the summits … Once the checks and preparations are completed, the drone is in flight. Only after a few minutes, this device captures a landscape that wonderfully reveals the mining history of this region!
