The Grammy Awards nominees for 2021 were announced on Tuesday night, and fans are not happy that some of their favourites missed out.
The Weeknd didn’t receive a single nomination, while Harry Styles’ loyal fans are not happy that he missed out on awards in some of the bigger categories.
And with the rise of K-Pop and worldwide success of the BTS, many had been thinking they’d be tipped to earn nominations across the board this year, but this didn’t happen.
Here we take a look at the biggest snubs of the Grammys 2021 and what fans are saying about them.
The Weeknd was the odds-on favourite to earn the most nominations this year but he didn’t get a single one.
The singer, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, was tipped to get a Song Of The Year for his track Blinding Lights.
His album After Hours was also tipped for several big nominations that never came.
The Weeknd is also scheduled to perform at the 2021 Super Bowl halftime show and has given several major performances throughout the year.
Fans have been taking to Twitter to voice their outrage, with one writing: “So all The Weeknd did for music in 2020 is a joke to the Grammys or something?????”
“The Weeknd?? ROBBED,” another posted.
Harry Styles’ critically-acclaimed album Fine Line was tipped to get all the major nominations this year.
But the former One Direction singer missed out on Album Of The Year and none of the singles from the album were nominated for Song Of The Year.
He was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for Watermelon Sugar and Best Music Video for Adore You, but fans feel he should have got more nods.
One tweeted: “The Grammys robbed The Weeknd, BTS, Harry Styles, Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga all in one year? Sounds about right.”
“No I’m not okay. But I’m still so proud of Harry,” another posted.
K-Pop has exploded this year, with new fans all over the world.
But BTS’ hit song Dynamite was snubbed in all of the major categories, though the band was nominated in the pop duo/group performance category.
This has angered fans, with one tweeting: “No but the actually robbed BTS in the biggest categories???? Map of the Soul and Dynamite deserved better.”
“BTS were undeniably robbed,” another wrote.
Lady Gaga fans were wowed when she released her album Chromatica this year, but it clearly didn’t impress the Grammys judges as much.
The album failed to get nominations in the biggest categories, earning just two nominations for pop vocal album and pop duo/group performance, respectively.
This has devastated her fans, with one tweeting: “Saw the Grammy noms and I have just one thing to say: @ladygaga was robbed. I mean Chromatica is one of her best albums. PERIOD!”
“Lady Gaga has been robbed in broad daylight,” another said.
