Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek left out of Grammy nomination for his audiobook… despite him narrating part of the memoir

Alex Trebek was not included in the Grammy nomination for his audiobook The Answer Is…: Reflections On My Life, even though he narrated part of the project and was submitted in consideration for the award.

The audiobook is in contention for Best Spoken Word Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, but Trebek’s name is noticeably missing from the list of nominees.

Instead, Jeopardy! record-holder Ken Jennings, who narrated the audiobook with the late Trebek, is the sole person nominated for the award.

Jennings pointed out the slight on his Twitter account, where he posted a screenshot of the list of nominees.

‘This should 100% be Alex’s Grammy nomination. He wrote the book and reads much of the audiobook! Who do I speak to about this,’ he tweeted.

Simon & Schuster, the publisher behind the memoir, submitted both Trebek and Jennings for the award, and are unsure why Trebek’s name has been left off, TMZ reports.

The publishing company will be contacting the Grammys to find out why his name was left out, sources told the site.

The Answer Is… is competing for the honor against Acid for the Children: A Memoir by Flea, Blowout: Corrupted Democracy, Rogue State Russia, and the Destructive Industry on Earth by Rachel Maddow, Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow, and Charlotte’s Web (E.B.) by Meryl Streep and cast.

Trebek published The Answer Is…: Reflections on my Life in July 2020, less than four months before his passing at age 80 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Trebek spent his final day with his wife Jean Currivan Trebek and their family, Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards recently said on the Today Show

‘He had a swing in his backyard that he loved. He actually rebuilt it earlier this year… Even in his book he described that he wanted his final day to be sitting on his swing next to his wife Jean and watching the horizon and he got to do that,’ he said.

Trebek’s widow recently broke her silence on his passing on Instagram.

‘My family and I sincerely thank you all for your compassionate messages and generosity. Your expressions have truly touched our hearts. Thank you so very, very much,’ she posted.

Trebek first revealed his cancer diagnosis in 2019, and had been open about his battle several times, including admitting this year he would stop his cancer treatments if his last course failed to work.
