NBA: VanVleet signs new contract with Toronto


Fred VanVleet has reportedly signed a four-year, $ 85 million contract with the Toronto Raptors.

VanVleet was one of the most prominent players within hours of the official opening of the free agent market in the NBA. The Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns had shown interest in his services. But the Raptors had made negotiations with VanVleet their number one priority heading into the 2021 season.

Never drafted, the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best leaders in the league on both sides of the court with the Raptors, whom he joined in 2016. He has especially shown himself in the 2019 playoffs. and helped Torontonians win their first NBA championship.

Last season, VanVleet averaged 17.6 points per game and earned a salary of $ 9.3 million.
