The IRS released a reminder to people who normally do not file tax returns that they have until 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 21, to sign up for a stimulus check. These people too may be eligible to receive a payment of $ 1,200 for their spouse and $ 500 for each qualifying child.
The extended November 21 deadline also allows more time for people with federal benefits who have already received a stimulus payment, but did not sign up for payments of $ 500 for dependent children.
Those eligible for this money include people with qualifying children who receive money from Social Security retirement, survivor or disability benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Railroad Retirement benefits, and Veterans Affairs Pension and Compensation benefits, and who did not file a tax return in 2018 or 2019.
The IRS is also asking anyone who did not file taxes in 2018 or 2019 to sign up to receive a stimulus check using the Non-Filers tool before 3:00 p.m. in the morning. This includes low-income families.
The Non-Filers tool is designed for people with incomes typically below $ 24,400 if they are married couples, and $ 12,200 for singles who were not claimed as dependents of another person. This includes couples and individuals who are homeless..
