Pasquale Preziosa was arrested and charged with setting fire to a house in Long Island (NY), during a confrontation with the authorities.

Preziosa (53) was arrested Thursday and faces charges of arson, criminal mischief, aggravated harassment and threats.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a disturbance at a home on Erie Avenue, Atlantic Beach, Nassau County.

Preziosa had sent threatening text messages to members of his family, indicating that he intended to harm himself, according to the police.

Someone alerted the authorities and when they arrived, Prezioca refused to leave the house. This led to a confrontation with the police, who secured a perimeter around the house.

Approximately three hours later, officers observed flames in the residence, which spread across most of the second floor. Firefighters and policemen entered to the house and they found Preziosa semiconscious in the basement.

He received emergency medical assistance and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment for smoke inhalation, he said. Pix11.
