Two additional deaths have also been added to the toll, for a total of 87 since the start of the pandemic in the region.

The number of hospitalizations, however, dropped slightly to 42, while 9 people are in intensive care. There are 115 active outbreak centers in the region, including 10 in CIUSSS facilities.

The CHSLD de la Colline, located in the northern sector of the Chicoutimi borough in Saguenay, is affected by a second outbreak.

In the first wave last spring, a quarter of the facility’s residents died from COVID-19.

Employees of the city of Saguenay will come to help the health system, while the regional health authorities have made an official request to the city in the last few days.

The city will eventually ask its employees, for whom work is scarce at this time of the year, if they wish to lend a hand.

Saguenay has also reached an agreement with the Committee on Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work so that its inspectors can also do their part in this period of crisis by giving advice to businesses and institutions on sanitary measures to be applied.
