Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said Tuesday that it is imperative that lawmakers pass a second stimulus package, as he said, increased cases of contagion could put more pressure on small businesses that have been greatly affected by the pandemic.
He also congratulated Joe Biden on his victory, despite the fact that President Donald Trump still refuses to acknowledge his defeat.
“I want to end by congratulating President-elect Biden. We look forward to working with the administration and both houses of Congress to move the country forward, ”McMillon said during a call he had with Wall Street analysts, according to CBS.
On economic support, he noted that small businesses are under more pressure as states on the east and west coasts impose more restrictions due to the increase in coronavirus cases.
Walmart could have problems if the country’s small businesses do not emerge from the crisis, since many of them serve as suppliers to the company.
