There are different ways to make payments to the IRS. One of the most effective is to do it online, but if you are one of the people who prefer to pay in cash, then you should know that The IRS offers you a way for you to pay your taxes at a retail store, like 7-Eleven.

By doing it this way, your payment takes five to seven business days to process. That’s why it’s best to make sure you plan ahead of your due date to make sure your payment is credited on time.

Step 1

Visit the Official Payments site and follow the instructions to make a cash payment with PayNearMe.

Step 2

You will receive an email from Official Payments confirming your information. The IRS will then verify your information. This process can take two to three days, according to the IRS.

Step 3

After the IRS verifies your information, PayNearMe will send you an email with a link to your payment code and instructions to do so. You can print the payment code at home or send it to your phone.

Last step

Go to the retail store listed in the PayNearMe email and ask the person serving you at the store to scan or enter your payment code.

To pay, the store must give you a payment receipt. This receipt is the confirmation of your payment, so you should keep it in your files. It generally takes two business days for your payment to post to your account.
