Toni Kroos has dismissed Mesut Ozil’s “amusing” response to his row over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal celebrations, stating “nothing surprises me anymore”.
The Real Madrid midfielder took aim at Arsenal’s captain for pulling on a replica mask, akin to that of Marvel superhero Black Panther, after scoring last season.
He labelled the performance “nonsense”, prompting Aubameyang to tweet: “By the way – does this Toni Kroos have kids?”
Ozil then weighed in on the debate by supporting his Arsenal teammate, posting a video of Aubameyang wearing the mask and captioning it: “The best goal celebration!”
But Ozil’s input has done little to put Kroos off his stride, as he implied the reaction of his international teammate was somewhat predictable.
Speaking to Bild , Kroos said of Ozil: “I’m not surprised by anyone anymore. I found it very amusing, but in the meantime I’ve put it behind me.”
Kroos’s initial comments had sparked the mini row, after he said on ‘ Einfach mal Luppen’ podcast: “I find it (choreographed celebrations) very silly.
“Even worse is if there are any objects hidden in their socks.

“Aubameyang once celebrated and took out a mask. That’s where it ends with me. I don’t think that’s a good role model, either. What nonsense.”
The Arsenal striker was clearly irked by Kroos’s opinion.
Aubameyang wrote on Twitter : “By the way – does this Toni Kroos have kids? Just remember, I did it for my son a few times and I will do it again.
What are your thoughts on Aubameyang’s celebration? Have your say below.
“I wish you have kids one day and make them happy like this junior school pupil. And don’t forget #maskon #staysafe.”
Despite Ozil backing up his club captain, Kroos was unmoved, and now looks to have drawn a line under the disagreement.
Kroos is currently on international duty but did not feature in Germany’s Nations League win over Ukraine on Saturday.
He is expected to be involved for Tuesday’s clash against Spain, while Ozil retired from international duty in 2018.
