Liverpool hit with new injury scare as Robertson suffering with hamstring issue

Andy Robertson is suffering with a hamstring issue while on international duty in what could be another huge injury blow for Liverpool.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke confirmed the Liverpool left-back was a doubt for Sunday’s UEFA Nations League clash with Slovakia before leaving him out of his squad.

Ahead of the fixture, Clarke said: “Andy Robertson is the most doubtful out of the ones who have a wee question mark over them.”

The news will be hugely concerning for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez all out of action with injuries.

The Reds are also without Fabinho, who had been filling in at centre-back, with Joel Matip now the only recognised centre-back available to Klopp.

Liverpool will be hoping that Clarke’s decision is precautionary and that Robertson will be fit for the Reds to take on Leicester City next weekend.

Van Dijk was the first of Liverpool’s defenders to suffer a serious injury when he ruptured his ACL in the Merseyside derby.

The Dutchman has had successful surgery on his knee, but is facing up to nine months on the sidelines.

Fabinho then suffered an injury in the Champions League, before Alexander-Arnold hobbled off Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City.

Finally, Gomez suffered an injury while on England duty in a non-contact incident at St George’s Park. There is no time frame yet on when he’ll return.
