Kim Kardashian has openly shared her struggle to cope with her four ‘demanding’ children in lockdown without any help.
Things got so bad that Kim said she ‘didn’t care’ when she heard her two-year-old Chicago crying, saying she felt like a terrible mother.
When her husband Kanye West was struck down with coronavirus earlier this year, Kim, 40, found herself stuck at home with North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, and one-year-old Psalm – solely responsible for homeschooling and housework as they were forced into quarantine.
The tense scenes played out in Thursday night’s dramatic episode of Keeping Up With the Kardshians, which was filmed almost entirely on handheld cameras.
“I’m so used to working a lot and being away from the kids,” Kim explained. “I love spending this much time with them, but it’s just such a change.”
After the demands of solo parenting began take a toll, later in the episode, Kim ranted: “My kids are driving me so up the wall, I literally don’t know what to do.
“Today they all were crying and everyone’s antagonising each other. They want to be up my a**hole.
“I was just like, ‘Okay guys, I’m gonna cut myself in fours’, and then Saint starts crying, ‘You’re gonna bleed! And you’re gonna die and you’re not gonna be here with me,’ and I’m just like, ‘You guys, I’m actually gonna die if you don’t leave me alone.’ I did. And then North is like, ‘You hate me!’ and she’s falling on the floor, and I was just like… I couldn’t take it today.”
At one point Kim was seen filming a make-up tutorial in the mirror for her social media fans when her daughter North came in to the bathroom to see what she was up to.
“My kids will not leave me alone,” whispered Kim.
“Hey! That’s mean!” North was heard replying.
Later her two-year-old daughter Chicago was seen running outside towards the family swimming pool as Kim took part in a virtual study class for her law qualification.
“Gimme one sec… I have to grab her!” Kim cried to her fellow students as she dashed off to retrieve the wandering toddler.
After 14 days in quarantine, Kim called up her momager Kris Jenner and asked her to come over.
Speaking to the camera about her concerns for her second child, Kris, who turned 65 this week, said: “You know, Kim is Superwoman. But this is a truly stressful, serious, unprecedented, confusing time for everyone.”
Kim later phoned her mum friend Khadija Haqq-McCray for advice.
“I literally hear Chicago crying in the other room, and I don’t care,” Kim admitted. “I am literally feeling like an awful mom, just like letting her cry in the other room and figuring it out. Just like, I can’t.”
Khadija admitted the situation had left her in tears many times.
“All the mums I speak to are trying to talk each other off the ledge” revealed Khadija, as she offered some reassuring words to Kim.
When Kanye eventually tested negative for coronavirus, he took his four kids to his Wyoming ranch for five days to give Kim a rest.
“They are so excited to go to Wyoming. And I am even more excited for them to go,” said a gleeful Kim.
“Have you ever seen a kitchen so silent?” she asked the camera before sliding across the floor in her pyjamas in celebration.
