Bake Off star Luis Troyano has died a the age of 48 after battling cancer


Bake-Off’s Luis Troyano has died at the age of 48.

Luis, who was runner up on the baking show in 2014, had been battling with oesophageal cancer.

The tragic news was confirmed by Luis’ agent Anne Kibel on Twitter.

“Sadly, my lovely client lost his brave fight against Oesophageal cancer last week.

“A fantastic man with a love of baking that saw him get to the finals of GBBO, write a wonderful book, Bake It Great and do so much more. Always in our thoughts.”

Fellow Bake Off star Nadiya Hussain paid her respects as she responded to the post ‘RIP.’

Luis had starred in the 2014 series of Bake Off where his talents in the kitchen earned him a place in the final alongside Richard Burr and Nancy Birtwhistle.

Grandmother Nancy went on to win the show but Luis enjoyed success and fame after his stint on the show.

He made appearances on BBC Good Food and BBC Breakfast shows.

He also released a cookbook in 2015, Bake It Great.
