After lawmakers failed to pass a relief bill until now, the state of Colorado decided it will issue its own stimulus check, as reported in Forbes.

The financial support of $ 375 dollars will be distributed to 435,000 people who earn less than $ 52,000 per year, who have received at least $ 1 from unemployment insurance between March 15, 2020 and October 24, 2020, and who have also been eligible to receive between $ 25 and $ 500 per week in unemployment benefits during that period.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed an executive order to issue the $ 168 million dollars needed to deliver the stimulus checks.

“The economic impacts of COVID-19 are significant and threaten to undermine the economic stability of many Coloradans and local businesses. The risk of contamination from COVID-19 required the closure of multiple businesses, “” wrote Polis in the executive order.

“Employers and workers in virtually every sector of the economy have been hit hard. While we have seen signs that our efforts to ‘flatten the curve’ are working, the transmission of the virus continues to threaten the way of life and livelihoods of Coloradans, “he added.

Stimulus checks will be issued from the state’s unemployment insurance system to eligible individuals who are in financial distress due to the health crisis.

All stimulus checks are due by December 4, 2020.
