Millionaire Theft of Luxury Goods from New York’s JFK Airport: Six Accused The NY Journal

Six people, including two former workers at New York’s JFK airport, have been charged with allegedly stealing more than $ 6 million worth of designer merchandise, including Chanel bags and jewelry, using tractor trailers in a series of robberies.

The two main defendants, identified as David Lacarriere (33) and Gary McArthur (43), are truckers who previously worked at JFK and allegedly used their “insider knowledge” to coordinate the robberies.

Wallets Gucci, sunglasses, sports shoes, clothing, bags Prada and accessories were among the loot allegedly removed from the airport since January, prosecutors in Queens (NYC) said Thursday.

According to the indictment, Lacarriere allegedly went to the reception office of an air cargo importer on January 31 and showed a forged document with an invoice and flight details for a shipment of Prada merchandise.

The truck involved in the first robbery was found a few days later, but it was empty and the interior had been cleaned with bleach.

Supposedly the same routine was repeated in another robbery on May 17 with forged documents, when the group took away an air cargo containing thousands of items from the firms Chanel and Gucci that were worth more than $ 4.4 million.

In June the police located the suspects in a non-operational beauty salon that was used as a hiding place for stolen goods. During a separate search, more than 3,000 Gucci items and more than 1,000 Chanel products with an estimated value of at least $ 2.5 million were recovered.

Four men, including Lacarriere and McArthur, are already in custody for the alleged scheme and in addition two other conspirators are sought. The two alleged ringleaders face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

The indictment includes 22 counts grand theft, conspiracy, criminal possession of stolen property and other crimes, reported NBC News.
