Nashville SC may be an expansion team, but for Thierry Henry, they are poisonous.
“They’re an old school English side for me. They like to play with five players behind to disturb the teams that play high.
“We played them in the preseason, it was really tough, a fight in every way. “
And with almost a full season behind the tie, it’s safe to say that Nashville will be even more impenetrable on Tuesday night than it was in the preseason.
In fact, Nashville has suffered just two losses in its last 13 outings, which isn’t bad at all.
There are certainly things this team does very well to get into the thick of it with eighth place in the East.
Athletic and aggressive
Thierry Henry seems to have a lot of respect for what his counterpart, Gary Smith, has built in a few months at the helm of the Tennessee team.
“We are playing against a team that is athletic and aggressive in a good way. They are good with stopped balls and they are difficult to squeeze.
“It’s not easy to get into this championship and they did it. I take my hat off to them coach and what he happens to do. “
As well as having his opponent in high esteem, Henry admits that his team generally don’t react very well to such opponents.
“This is the kind of team you don’t like playing against. Every time we’ve faced one, we’ve had a hard time. “
Nashville is allowing few goals and scoring few more, but remains effective in the set pieces.
“They’re very good on set pieces, they always seem to think they can score every time,” said Luis Binks.
But that’s not all, this team plays with confidence and is very efficient at getting the ball out of their territory.
The identity of the game and the role of each in the system seem to be very clear.
