Liverpool will move into their stunning new £50million Kirkby training base next month, according to reports.

Construction began on the training centre in 2018 and the development was close to completion before the coronavirus pandemic brought things to a sudden halt.

As a result, Liverpool were unable to move into the training ground at the start of the season, as was the original plan.

They have instead continued to train at the club’s historic Melwood base.

Jurgen Klopp has the final say on whether or not Liverpool should move into their new base mid-season, as it could prove unsettling for his squad.

A clause was inserted in the sale of Melwood that gives Liverpool the option to remain at their current complex for the entire 2020/21 campaign.

But according to The Athletic, Klopp is happy to proceed with a mid-season switch, and has earmarked the next international break as the perfect time to make the move.

This means that Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City on November 8 could be the final game the Reds prepare for at Melwood.

Klopp has long backed the idea of Liverpool building a new training base, which incorporates the first-team and youth set-ups on the one site.

The German has been instrumental in helping with the design of the 14 acre space.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and midfielder James Milner have also reportedly given their opinions on how to make the facilities state-of-the-art.
