Impact: healthy mental rest

Montreal Impact head coach Thierry Henry decided to see the glass half full this week, when his club was unable to train due to quarantine.

Returning home between two games, the Montreal eleven were unable to come together and practice for their Saturday night clash against New York City FC (NYCFC).

No need to be frustrated, Henry instead looked at the positive of this unique situation in 2020. He believes it gave players a healthy break for their sanity.

“Mental rest is as, if not more important than physical rest. When you’re in a good state of mind, the body follows suit, ”he said in his pre-game video conference Friday.

This rest will be beneficial, since the Impact will be busy in the coming days. After NYCFC on Saturday, the Belle Province team will take on Nashville SC on Tuesday night and Orlando City SC the following weekend.

“We have found ourselves in this situation before. […] We are not thinking of Tuesday. We are thinking of collecting points as quickly as possible, ”said Henry of the busy schedule.

Good words for Bojan

Impact, which is on its way to the Major League Soccer playoffs, is enjoying success right now. The Montrealers have amassed at least one point in three of their last five outings.

Henry was keen to highlight Bojan Krkic’s performance during this streak.

“A number of people were wondering about Bojan and I find he answered them recently. When he plays like he does now, we are a different team. He goes in attack and he shoots at the net. There is a lot of positive in his game, ”said the driver.

In his last four games, the Spain international has amassed two goals and one assist. He also fired six shots in the direction of the opposing net.
