Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is in isolation after coming into contact with the COVID-19-infected municipal affairs minister.
Tracy Allard has tested positive and has been in self-isolation since the weekend, Global News reported on Wednesday.
Mr. Kenney said in a statement that he is self-isolating, even though he reveals he has tested negative. “I don’t have symptoms of COVID-19,” he said.
The announcement of Kenney’s isolation comes as Alberta broke a record for coronavirus infections on Wednesday.
The province has recorded three deaths and 406 new infections, a new daily record. In total, Alberta has 3,372 active cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic outbreak.
The premier of Alberta recently met Conservative Leader O’Toole without wearing a mask.
