Alberta bear forces Calgary park closure

North Glenmore Park in Calgary, Alta., Was closed Monday evening due to the presence of a “dangerous” black bear spotted nearby.

The 84-hectare park is usually open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

A provincial government spokesperson said she had received a report of black bear presence in recent weeks in Discovery, Lakeview and North Glenmore Park, Global News reported Tuesday.

One of the bears was seen rummaging through the garbage cans near the North Glenmore APR. “Agents managed to immobilize and capture him this morning,” said Ina Lucila.

After evaluation, the animal was moved to a natural area outside the park.
