The comic strip “Ilish and Wicker Stories” was created based on the book of the Azerbaijani writer Kamran Salayev
Timur Akhmedzhanov, a student of the London Film Academy, drew the comic strip “Elish and the Wicker Stories”. It is based on the book of the same name by the Azerbaijani writer and child psychiatrist Kamran Salayev. The main feature of the comic, like the book, is that it is dedicated to children with autism.
The project was originally created to draw public attention to the disease. The publication of the comic was made possible thanks to a crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo online platform. The project was supported by more than 220 people from 25 countries of the world: writers, public figures and diplomats from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and simply not indifferent people.
“For most people with autism, the big problem is that people don’t understand them – and that they don’t understand themselves. This is why Elish is such a great project. The author of the book uses simplicity and visual impact to overcome the barriers that autistic children often face when they are addressed with a sea of words. “– said the English English actor and writer Tim Bentinck.
The comic is available for pre-order in online stores. Part of the proceeds from the sale will go to support organizations that help children with autism. To reach as large an audience as possible, online presentations will take place over the next few months. One of the presentations is scheduled for November 28, 2020.
