The music video for No Time To Die has shown off the ‘love story’ at the centre of Daniel Craig’s final James Bond film.
The title song from the film, performed by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish, premiered its music video on Thursday.
In black-and-white clips from the video, Billie sings and poses in sultry manner, while we also see images and scenes from the upcoming blockbuster.
Much of the new content shown to fans in the music video were scenes between Daniel Craig’s James Bond and his central love interest, Dr. Madeleine Swann ( Lea Seydoux ).
The pair rode off in his Aston Martin DB5 at the conclusion of 2015’s Spectre, having defeated the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld ( Christoph Waltz ).
However, the new film finds the pair torn apart as Madeleine’s past comes back to haunt her in the form of dangerous new villain Safin, played by Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek.
In the video we see new shots as Bond and Madeleine go their separate ways after an ambush in Matera, Italy, and are reunited for a showdown with an imprisoned Blofeld in London.
The lyrics of the song also speak of broken hearts and betrayal.
In the footage, Madeleine gets a creepy gift of a white mask that relates to Malek’s Safin that builds in the clip to a climactic showdown at Safin’s base – glimpsed in previous trailers – but this is the first confirmation that Madeleine is present for these scenes.
Will James and Madeleine get a happy ending as Daniel Craig bows out from his role as the iconic secret agent after five films?
Speaking on the first instalment of the official James Bond podcast, producer Barbara Broccoli revealed the film would truly tie up the story of Craig’s Bond that began with 2007’s Casino Royale.
She said: “It’s a culmination of everything that his portrayal of the character has been through and it ties up all the storylines.
“It’s a pretty epic film, I have to say.”
Meanwhile, Seydoux herself added of the love story in the film: “I think it was important to see Bond in love again because he had this relationship with Vesper, but she betrayed him, and this time, I think she’s the real love in a way.
“It’s a love story. It’s a story between the two of them. It’s very unusual for a Bond film to see James Bond in love, and I think it’s quite modern in a way.”
Also present in the music video are action-packed shots of the new Bond ladies in the form of new 00 agent Nomi (Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch ) and Cuban CIA operative Paloma (Knives Out’s Ana de Armas ).
Regular Bond cast members to return include Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, and Sir Ralph Fiennes as M.
No Time To Die is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on November 12, 2020.
