Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor and director Rob McElhenney have been confirmed as the men behind a bid to buy National League side Wrexham.
The North Wales club confirmed that the duo are the proposed bidders for the 155-year-old outfit, and they are now set to put forward their plans for the club at a Special General Meeting.
Reynolds has starred in numerous Hollywood blockbusters and is most famous for his role in the recent Deadpool franchise.
While McElhenney is one of the creators and stars of the hugely popular It’s Always Sunny comedy series which recently aired for the 14th season in the US.
Suggestions that a couple of “extremely well-known individuals of high net worth” had approached Wrexham were recently cited in local media, and the club have now made their identities known.
“The Wrexham Supporters Trust Board would like to thank all members who took part in the Special General Meeting yesterday (Tuesday September 22) and took the time to vote,” said the club in a statement on Wednesday.
“As confirmed this morning, 97.5% of voters (1,223 members) voted in favour of the Resolution.
“As a result, talks with the proposed bidders will now continue and we are in a position to confirm the two people interested in investing in Wrexham AFC.
