The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Marcelo Ebrard reported Tuesday that your government is investigating six possible cases of women who may have undergone forced sterilizations on US soil.

Although he has avoided giving conclusions on the matter, he has said that if this fact is confirmed it would be a “major issue”, according to information from the newspaper “Milenio”.

In a press conference, Ebrard has indicated that a consular alert has already been activated, while the government has contacted the six alleged victims.

“I estimate that tomorrow we will finish interviewing. Of course it is something unacceptable that we reject, even without having confirmed information ”, he stated. “In the United States we are with organizations; it has to be clarified (the matter). I am not anticipating, there are six that we have interviewed, but there could be more ”, he said.

The NGO Project South, which has documented human rights violations among migrants from a detention center in Irwin, Georgia, has revealed that Mexican women are among those affected by various medical procedures performed without their consent, such as hysterectomies.
